What Is Breast Compression?
Breast compression means gently squeezing your breast to help your milk flow while your baby is latched. This can help your baby drink more milk while breastfeeding, especially if he is sleepy or has a weak suck.
- Cup your breast with your hand as shown in the picture.
- Gently squeeze and hold your breast, when your baby’s sucking slows down or stops.
- Repeat compressions if your baby does not start to suck and swallow again after a few seconds.
